South Leicester U15/16 Vs Leicester Forest U15

With the return to rugby around the corner, this night game came fast. The weather has been brutal, the ground hard but finally it has let up?? With little rain, the ground has softened but not enough. Tonight saw South’s first home game of the season for the club and what a turn of events it was. With coaches at logger heads the agreement was finally made to play touch rugby, kids safety comes first!
K.O. ensues and with the new rules to adapt to, it wasn’t long before the first try came around from South, conversion long but wide set the score to 5-0.
K.O starts the game again and south push forward and take a penalty not long after. Wide again, 5-0.
With the new rules starting to settle in leicester Forrest came back and got their first try but missed the conversion equalising the score to 5-5. With the game being played in 4 x 15 minute quarters it was fast and hard like a big game of 7s.
South went on to score their second try under the posts making it 12-5 with the conversion.
New rules means new game play, adapt and overcome, big runners up the middle doesn’t work in touch rugby, passes out wide makes ground! A battle to get the ball out saw it fall short but the little pick and place from the scrum half saw south’s 3rd try, converted making the game 19-5. This game is not over, Forest came back hard and pushed, penalty after penalty they hit south’s 22, tap and go with a pass down the line saw another try out wide in the 5mt making it 19-10 a missed conversion leaves it there.
Still time left on the clock south hit 6th gear pushing up to Forests 5 metre line 5 metres in, surely one last try??
Denied, too aggressive on the run for touch rugby no chance for the opposition to defend, the ref blows the whistle for the last time making the final score 19-10.
What a game it was!!
