South secure a cracking win

Match report 23/10/16 Lutterworth v South Leicester

The usual fierce battle awaited South in our first encounter of the season with Lutterworth.

South started brightly from the off and took play into the Lutterworth half. They soaked up the pressure though and ran hard back at the south three's. Callum managed to snatch the ball and kicked us away from danger.

The games started to turn into a battle of wills with both packs hammering at each other equally gaining and losing ground. Luke drove forwards only to be stopped by some solid Lutterworth tackles. Play edged it's way into our 22" but the forwards won some lovely ball and Callum from the 22" scored a belter running the length of the pitch for a smashing try !

0-5 to South.

Lutterworth started well at the kick off and pumped a big ball into the bottom left corner forcing James to make a lovely catch. South stemmed the attack and took play across to the Lutterworth 22" and then Callum 'The poacher' snatched another try in the corner !

0-10 to South.

HALF TIME

A number of changes we made at half time and South started the strongest taking play down to the left corner. Furious rucking at driving from South led to the ball popping out to the 'poacher' and Callum was in for a well earned and well taken hat trick !! He then popped over a neat conversion !

0-17 to South

Again play became a battle between packs but South had the upper hand, constant pressure led to George driving over for a good try - Callum had his golden boots on today, slotting over the kick ! Score ...

0-24 to South

Lutterworth though were like a wounded animal and fought back strongly managing to claw back 14 points before the Ref called time

Fantastic win today boys over a traditionally strong side, good to see you all so determined in what was a bruising encounter at times against some very large fellas. We have a really tough three weeks coming up against some very good teams so let's take that determination with us.

We have a very large squad and it only seems right that we need to formulate a squad system so that everyone in the squad gets equal and fair game time - with that in mind I really do need you to let me know promptly when you are available and unavailable. I will be keeping track of it so everyone gets games time
