Played in a blizzard !

The weather played its part in the outcome of this match as did our squad size of just 15 meant our players had to endure the full hour in freezing blizzard and muddy conditions. Ball handling became impossible as hands froze in the cold and even the ref commented that he was struggling to see the ball and the line in all the snow as the pitch turned into an absolute quagmire.
Hinckley had 2 very good players who were able to slice through South's defence throughout the game.South's two tries came from Matt Cooke in the first half after a Hinckley ball was charged down and Alex Adams in the second after good pressure on the Hinckley line.There was also a conversion from Ciaran Holland to bring our final tally to 12.
Rocky and Ian said we were battling but we lost the game through lack of communication and again our tackling let us down allowing Hinckley to get into our half and score all too often. But they were a big squad and could make changes when we couldn't so well done for facing up to the cold and mud for the entire match.

There was thankfully a viewing stand so supporters could all take shelter while the players froze on the pitch! Thoughts turned to the Scarborough tour next week - were Pirates of the Caribbean and Rocky good film choices given the weather ??!! Scott of the Arctic and Ice Station Zebra maybe more appropriate!!
