A very WIN - dy day all round !

Match Report 12/4/15
Coalville v South Leicester
It was a sunny but very windy day at Coalville's excellent Hall lane ground, with the wind whipping across the pitch. With several players unavailable this was an opportunity for the team to show some real metal and for some of the new guys to show their stuff and they didn't disappoint with some great play !
South started brightly with Deven making a brave, huge cover tackle on the right wing to stop a fast moving Coalville break. This led to a Coalville scrum, where they fed the ball well and crashed over for an early try.
5-0 to Coalville. Conversion missed.
Coalville attacked again near our line but some great defending kept them at bay. We moved it up the middle where from a South scrum Mitch and Alex displayed some lovely handling skills resulting in the ball being recycled to Jack who was held up just short of the line.
South maintained the pressure winning a scrum 15 yards out. George picked from the base and drove towards the line, was tackled short but Mitch was on hand and showed great strength to drive the ball over - Try !
5-5 good effort from Alex with the kick but just short of the uprights !
From the restart George was marauding around the paddock secured the ball and fed Sam whose dazzling leg work let him ghost through several defenders, displaying plenty of gas to score under the posts !
Alex slotted a tidy kick !
5-12 to South.
Again from the kick South recycled ball and some tidy passes were being made. This led to Jack receiving the pass and some neat work from the big lad to beat two tackles led to a further score under the sticks.
Alex the boot toon was in form and popped it over the bar with little trouble !
5-19 to South.
Coalville weren't going to lie down though and fought back putting pressure on the pack, forcing errors. This led to a Coalville scrum then lineout where they snatched one back with their big second row crashing through. Conversion successful.
12-19 to South.
Further scrums from the restart and some scrappy play but no further scores from either team.
Half time 12-19 to South.
South kicked off the second half and won the loose ball. It was popped to Ben who made a strong run down the right wing. Coalville won a scrum from a resulting maul. Coalville obviously had had their oranges at half time and were making us work, with some big runs. Jack put in a hammer tackle in the middle and South won a scrum from the resulting knock on.
Coalville continued the pressure though won the ball back and managed to grab another try in the left corner to make the score - conversion missed.
17-19 !!
Restart, Mitch took possession made a cheeky dash down the right wing kicked on and Jack followed up well to tackle the Coalville defender. The ball was cleared by Coalville straight to Charlie, who with excellent hands and awareness fed to Jonathan, who with stills lots to do, jinxed his way over from 20 yards out to score a lovely try ! ( Sarah you owe him some money I understand ! )
Kick was missed but the score was 17-24 to South
Coalville attacked from the restart and kicked towards Alex. He made a some good ground leading to a South scrum. Reece who was causing loads of problems to Coalville sniping around the base of the scrum led to South attacking Coalville with George and Reece running strongly and a big tackle from Lewis forcing a lineout ten yards out from the Coalville line.
Cam stole the ball and virtually dragged the Coalville pack over the line to score a big try ! The Coalville second row shaking his head in disbelief that he had been dragged ten years back !
The kick was just short !
17-29 to South.
South were going for it now attacking down the right wing big Flynn showed great potential driving forward with the ball making good ground feeding Callum who made a corking run showing lots of pace. Tackled and after a couple more breakdowns the ref blew for time !
Yet again the South lads showed some real team spirit and determination to win another match ! Well done to Flynn who had a great match and the other guys playing out of position but putting in loads of effort and I'm sure were learning loads for future games. It's tremendous to watch. As the season is coming to a close in the next few weeks keep the putting in the effort, enjoy yourselves and look forward to your tour which has been well earned ! WELL DONE SOUTH !
