South Leicester v Melbourne

South Leicester v Melbourne - 1st March 2015
Another beautiful but windy sunny day at South for their match against Melbourne.
Straight from the start South starting applying pressure to the Melbourne defence, testing them in the scrum and lineout. Some strong running by the backs down the left wing led to series of scrums and lineouts resulting in Jack scoring a strong try down the middle under the sticks. Alex stepped up and popped over a neat conversion.
7-0 South
More of the same came from the south pack leading to a cracking run from Sam, just in touch.
Melbourne rallied and put pressure on our right wing leading to a try in the corner. Conversion missed.
7-5 South
South bounced back and drove deep into the Melbourne 22. Reece did some great sniping work around the scrum with Morgan securing the loose ball and crashing over. Conversion missed.
12-5 South
Then came a massive moment. Great work from the restart from Myles secured the ball, which went to Cameron, who went on a marauding run from his own half, brushing tackles away, only nearly to be snagged by their biggest player who Cam dragged over the line for a great try. Conversion missed.
17-5 South at half time.
Restart and Melbourne had made the most of break and started strongly dragging the score back to 17-17 with two well taken tries.
A neat conversion lead to Melbourne taking the lead 17-19.
Some more tactical changes were made and players playing in unfamiliar positions but South continued to work hard and some fierce tackles in the middle forced Melbourne into mistakes and Callum grabbed his chance to score a lovely try out wide and slotted an amazing kick to make the score
24-19 South
However Melbourne were not giving up and scored again outside bringing it level 25-25 !
South turned the screw though and from good spoiling work jack jumped on a loose ball and sprinted for the posts scoring a neat try. Alex the boot toon slotted the kick.
32-25 South
South again put the pressure on form the restart and jack made a solid break through the pack scoring another under posts, Alex again kicking the conversion !
Final score 39-25 South.
Well done boys ! Great game today, all of you played well and continued to show us how you are all developing as a team ! It's really exciting to see every week !! Remember being part of a squad / team is a very special thing and you can all feel very proud today of what you have achieved.
Special mention to Max and Myles who turned out for Melbourne - again excellent sportmanship and respect for the game !
