South Leicester v Lutterworth

It was a cold but lovely sunny day for rugby at South Leicester for an eagerly awaited match against local rivals Lutterworth.

Lutterworth started strongly taking the South defence by surprise scoring an early try following an attack down the left wing. 0-5 to Lutterworth.
Conversion missed.

Lutterworth to their credit continued strongly putting huge pressure on the South pack and defence generally and some missed tackles lead to another score from Lutterworth making it 0-10.
Again despite our efforts we were missing tackles and being muscled off the ball leading to another Lutterworth score - 0-15. Conversion missed.

Another quick converted try followed and we were in trouble ! 0-22 to Lutterworth.

We rallied briefly with some crunching tackles coming in from Charlie 'the hammer' Jackson, Stormin Morgan and Jack Smash Burge stemming the flow of tries. However the Lutterworth support play was excellent and they finished the first half 0-34 in front.

The 2nd half started in the same vein for Lutterworth quickly, mainly through our mistakes making the score 0-41 and increasing it to 0-46.

However South rallied and started to show the adoring crowd of supporters ! ( us parents !!) what they can really do. The tackles started to come thick and fast and we started to make their pack work for everything. Some probing running from Callum tested their defence leading to Sam 'The legs' Darch going on a fantastic wide run to the right wing, outstripping the defence and scoring a well earned try.
5-46. Conversion missed.

Lutterworth started all from the kick off and grabbed a try back but missed the spot kick making it 5-51
Big Joe Hunt made a brave entrance to the field despite feeling under par and made big impact in the forwards ! This spurred the lads on and they started putting some good passages of play together and gave the Lutterworth something to think about. We maintained the pressure and from an naming lineout a great feed from Alex the dodger Toon gave Jack Smash the opportunity to open his legs and crave his way through the defence and score well earned try under the posts. Alex slotted the kick making the final score.... 12-51 to Lutterworth.

Lads despite the score take heart from the fact that you kept going at Lutterworth and came good in the last quarter getting just rewards with two tries for your hard work. keep training hard, lay off the haribos ! make every training session count and we will be the ones with the big wins ! Whatever the score your fans are VERY PROUD of you all !!!!! come on South ! Looking forward to the next game.
