South Leicester Silence the Roar of Leicester Lions!

South Leicester welcomed Leicester Lions on a bright and sunny morning, Lions came with a big pack and it showed as Lions put South under pressure from the kick off dominating the early play putting pressure on the south try line. To their credit of the whole South team worked hard in the first half replying to a unconverted try by Lions to score via M.Cox unconverted making the score 5-5 at halftime. South came out a different team in the second half and from the excellent kick off from K.Hughes, South put the right pressure on to score an unconverted try by the impressive M.Cox making the score 10-5 to South. From Lions kick, the ball was caught by J.Beech making a great run through the Lions team offloading to D.Pegg to continue with a stunning run to score a brilliant try then converted by K.Hughes to make the score 17-5 to South. South turned the game around from the first half running at every chance as it was clear the Lions side were tired. W.Bass and M.Cox leading from the front took the game to the Lions side allowing for great play from the whole team as confidence grew in all areas. Another break started by W.Bass through to D. Wrighton then through to M.Cox with D.Pegg finishing in style with an unconverted try making the score 22-5 to South.

Lions then put South under pressure for the last 5-10 minutes with South holding their own, another great break this time started by R.Chapman then out to W.Bass then to J.Beech only to be stopped by the Lions defence. Lions effort then paid off with an unconverted try making the score 22-10 to South. The last few minutes saw South attack again with D.Pegg just missing out on another try which led to a period of play where South were camped on the Lions try line unfortunately not being able to add to the score , final score 22-10 to South. Another game with forwards and backs scoring showed how well the team played together and for each other as Lions were soundly beaten.
