A total of 29 boys turned up on a mixed morning of cloud and sun, South started with aggression and pace, with the impressive k.Hughes picking up loose ball surging forward and off loading to D.Pegg scoring an unconverted try. This seemed to wake up Lutterworth and have the opposite effect on South, as the home side ran in a few tries with south replying through R.Bason with an unconverted try to finish 28-10 to the home side at half time.
South made a number of changes to ensure all boys got a game, and started the second half with the backs to their credit passing the ball well along the line putting pressure on the home side on a number of occasions. On one of those occasions a lovely move from a scrum with the ball passing along the line with the backs running on at pace resulting in an unconverted try by A.Djemil.
South then continued to put pressure on the home side, with both side attacking, two superb tackles by the “ rock “ K.Damian limited Lutterworth to two further tries in the second half. Again South, as in previous games at times moved the ball well, but need to improve with concentration and tackling as too often we were trying to tackle bodies instead of legs.
Several Individuals stood out – K.Hughes/K.Damian/A.Djemil – but for overall performance and effort – Man of the match – B.Cooke.
Lutterworth were a physical side and gave the boys valuable experience moving forward for the remaining part of the season.
Well done the coaches and management team for the first part of the season, we have had some mixed results, but overall improvements have been made.
Happy Christmas to everyone.
