This was the under 13's first game in the 15 a side format and produced a superb team performance dominating in all areas against a S&L side with a big pack.
South started brightly taking the game to the opposition and with consistent interplay between forwards and backs W.Bass scored the first try 5-0 to south. Excellent build up play by the forwards and quick ball to the backs resulted in the second try to south by H.Jackson who had just come onto the pitch converted by F.Essam 12-0 to south.Despite having all the play in the first half S&L scored a breakaway try to make the halftime score 12-5 to south.
The second started with superb team play with a quick ball from scrum half J.Vaughan superbly finished by D.Pegg in his first game for the club 17-5 to south. J.Bryan intercepted a S&L lineout to score a well taken try converted by O.Thompson 24-5 to south. Another intercepted S&L lineout saw W.Bass run half the pitch to score 29-5 to south. O.Thompson then scored a superb individual try weaving through a number of players 34-5 to south.
S&L scored a try late in the game to make the final score 34-10 to south. With the use of rolling subs every player in the squad today made a telling contribution which made it very difficult to pick out individuals as the whole squad won this game today by playing consistent and exciting rugby. Special praise to E.Ablett & R.Bason who each played a half for S&L to help with numbers.
