Another cold, wet and windy game for South Leicester's under 8's

South Leicester RFC under 8’s played at Stewarts & Lloyds (Corby) RFC against Peterborough Lions RFC.

Conditions were cold, wet and windy but South boys seemed unparsed running around pre match and practising those passes.
Peterborough took South by surprise in the first half, they were quick and organised tagging South’s new side well. Despite Peterborough good defence south continued to go in for those tags, Peterborough got through to score 3 tries. The pressure was on South, both Joe and Kian went in for a tag, clashing and resulting in both summersaulting in the mud. The boys jumped up smiling, the weather wasn’t hampering their spirits. Tai made some ground with the ball only to be tagged just before the try line, he passed to Joe who scored South’s first try of the game. South new side seemed to have found their flow, after several tags by Peterborough, South kept calm with some good passes, resulting in Kian scoring his first try for South. Peterborough scored a further two more tries even though Corben, Joe & Jack defended well grabbing those tags. Peterborough had a great first half scoring 5 tries to South’s 2, but what a brilliant team effort by South.

Second half South continued to push for those tags and tries. Peterborough’s well-structured defence kept south moving looking for those spaces, good job as they needed to keep warm. Peterborough fast tagging resulting in a turn over ball from south and they went onto score. South’s ball Joe passed to Jack who steamed forward with his tags slipping through Peterborough’s fingers to score for South. Peterborough went onto to score a further two tries. Jacob and Corben both took advantage of South’s good passes displaying speed and distance only to run into Peterborough’s defence to push them into touch. South managed to regain control to allow them to score another try from Tai. Final Score 8-4 to Peterborough Lions
Tries by Tai, Joe, Jack & Kian & Tags by Tai, Corben, Joe, Jack & Kian.

Stewarts & Lloyds decided the weather conditions were too cold to continue and the rest of the games were called off. Although the boys were disappointed, the lure of hot food and dry clothes, they weren’t disappointed for long. Well Done South, and a huge congratulations to Kian & Corben for braving the cold, wet weather on their first game for South Leicester RFC. South’s player of the day went to Kian & Tai.
