South win two out of three at Oadby Wiggs

South under 8’s played away this Sunday at Oadby & Wyggestonian RFC, both teams demonstrating fantastic sportsmanship.
The sun was shining and south started strong with good passes from Max, Tai then to Joe who zigzagged through O&W to score South’s first try of the match. This was followed by O&W scoring their first try. South lost the ball to O&W and even with some good tagging O&W scored again.
South Ball and Joe found the space and scored again for south. O&W lost the ball to South after an accidental knock on. Joe passed to Jack support by his team saw the gaps and scored again for South.
South showed some excellent tagging, by Jacob, Max & Joe but O&W scored again. South ball from the O&W touch line and Max passes to Joe who then storms the full length of the pitch untouched to score again. Half time 3-4 to South.
Second half saw some good tagging and defending by both teams working the full pitch for space and passes. Moving fast start to the second half with tries scored by O&W, South’s Jack scored, followed by O&W scoring again. South’s ball, Joe passed to Jacob then to max who demonstrated some excellent dodging to score his first try of the match. Shortly after a well-supported Jack found his way to the try line to score another for South. O&W ball they passed and Tai intercepted and passed Joe to Max then Tai but ball was given to O&W due to missing Tag. South were undeterred and pursed O& W with good tagging but resulted in an O&W try. Final few seconds saw Joe just tagged before the try line to pass to Tai who scored try again for south. Full Time final score was O&W 6 – South 8

Next game was a very fast moving, with two of O&W players playing for South. Showing some fantastic sportsmanship by both teams, with South player’s high fiving O&W loaned players for scoring tries for South. A final score of O&W 5 - South 8.

Final game went to O&W scoring 9 tries to South 5. Tries in the first half by Max, Joe and tags by Tai, O&W loaned player. Second half was played better by South with tries by Tai and O&W loaned player and tags by Max, Joe, Jacob, Jack & Tai.
Excellent game had by south and O&W coaches, referee, players and parents who all really enjoyed themselves.
A very impressive team effort by South, well done boys. South’s player of the day went to Jack.
