Like many clubs South have suffered over recent years of not being able to field a COLTS side. However this year it is good news. The current Under 18 Colts consist of last season's under 17's ( County Cup Winners) what should have been this years under 17's have combined to create a strong Colts side. The squad of 29 players means that they are able to field a side including replacements even when players have commitments, to work, college and college matches.

The unavailability of players can sometimes prove difficult to provide consistency in drills and plays and this was shown to be true in the first two pre season games which saw two early losses.

However on Saturday 20th September 2014, South Leicester Colts played their first league match at home against Lutterworth Colts. Lutterworth who fielded a strong athletic team gave South some early scares and were rewarded with a try. Once the South forwards had woken up they set about dominating the scrums and line outs. It wasn't long before South replied with two tries and a conversion. As the game went on the team started to show much of its promised form and both age groups gelled well. Although Lutterworth did manage another try they were out played by South and the crowd were treated to the most audacious 40 yard try by Full Back Jimmy Vaughan who, running from 40 metres out scythed through the Lutterworth backline.
The final score was South Leicester 32 v Lutterworth 10.
