South Maintain unbeaten run
South entertained Lichfield at home, on a bright afternoon and a pitch that was fit for the premiership.
South ran in their first try within two minutes, after Litchfield were penalised for a high tackle, south kicked to the corner, won the line out and started a rolling maul, quick hands saw Will Cave go over, Ricki Aley to convert
South were to score four more tries in the first half, and with the south scrum in command and the set piece working well, it looked ominous for Lichfield. South were excellent at capitalising and keeping hold of the ball and some good direct running. There was nothing fancy; it was just very efficient and direct.
Lichfield did manage to score on half time, when an overthrown line out was gathered, the conversion, half time score 33 – 7.
Lichfield started the second half brightly, but were guilty of trying to tackle too high at times. This allowed Lee Robinson to run in his 3rd the day. Lichfield did hit a purple patch when south allowed them to play and their concentration dropped. Two well worked running trys, from their own half, suddenly the score was 40 – 21.
South reverted back to the level of play they started with and notched up a further four converted tries, including two excellent trys by Connor Smith and another faultless kicking display by Ricki Aley
Final score 68-21
