South travelled west to Newport in sunny Shropshire with hopes of continuing their good form in Midlands 1. They, however, were taught a salutary lesson in finishing by a rampant Newport side. They scored seven tries, converted six and were by far the best side throughout the match.
South were blown away by a combination of aggressive pressure defence and a desire to plunder any of the oppositions mistakes.
Unfortunately, South made plenty of mistakes from as early as the first minute and they were ruthlessly punished.
Certainly a bad day at the office with only an Ash Stevens sniping try and Mark Lord's perfect 5 from 5 place kicks with 14 points from his boot, to mutely celebrate.
Malvern are the visitors to Welford Road next Saturday which gives South the perfect platform to get back on track.
