A sunny Sunday took us to Coalville, with Riley and Gabe unavailable our 13-man strong team faced up and took their positions. Within the first minute of kick off Coalville broke through and scored their first try right between the posts. The conversion was taken and sailed through for the two extra points. As the game progressed Coalville showed they were in control and although their passing wasn’t as precise as South’s their grit got them three tries and two more conversions before the break.
A team talk and a slice of orange later, the second half kicked off and started out pretty much the same as the first. In the third minute South pushed Coalville to the edge of the pitch but Coalville broke through and scored their fifth try. The next Coalville scrum saw Kian and gang push Coalville off the ball, Tai collected and made some yards but was tackled to the ground. Kian and Josh mauled the Coalville side into submission and Jacob collected the free ball. A spirited run and Jacob was within the goal line surrounded by Coalville players, alas Coalville held the ball up. A scrum and a turn over and Coalville ran up the pitch to our 22 but was tackled by a combination of Kyle and Cole. Kyle picked up the ball and started a run towards the left-hand line and managed to off load the ball to Jack who in turn passed to Cole. With some clear space Cole opened up the taps and ran the ball over the touch line for South’s first try of the game. The game kicked off again and immediately went for a scrum. South won the ball, Curtis passed to Tai who passed to Joe who passed to Jack who shifted into top gear and managed to score his first try and South’s second. With the fire in their bellies truly lit, South fought for every yard of the field up to the last minute when a sneaky Coalville pass allowed their man to get through for Coalville’s final try of the match.
Final score, Coalville 43, South Leicester 10.
