Match day report vs Notts corsairs

11:03 Kick off

Notts won the toss and kicked off , south were on the attack from the whistle with some great rugby , Ollie joe and George with a few early runs , but turnover to Notts saw them start to stretch their legs , these guys look to have some speed ... They attack,but a good tackle from Callum saw you halt them , or so it seamed ... A cheeky flick by one of their players to their number 20 who's pace outstripped our defence for and early try

Pressure from the restart by Notts , Callum again with a turn over but the pressure was too great , fumbles causing us to lose the ball , first scrum of the game and it looks like we have the power over Notts ... But they come away with the ball and a nice tackle by jack forced another scrum , again we won the ball but turnover ball advantage as Notts run up to our 22 .. Scrum leading to a penalty against us and as quick as I can type they run over and score

Good kick but a little pace lacking in the chase gave them opportunity to pass along the line and run 3/4 of the pitch to score

Much better kick , little Grubba kick and chase saw us challenge for the ball , we get the ball back by the hand of Cameron who had his first run causing them some issues with his strength ... But unfortunately turnover ball saw them run in another try this time under the posts

Grubba kick again but this time they read it ... They attack and with some great hands they pass the ball down the line despite some great tackles going in , they were able to run in another try

Another great start . Some encouragement from the parents lifted south and looked as if we were going to do something nice , but lack of discipline in the tackle and positioning just gifted them with an easy try

Another good start , good run by Luke and driving into the tackler with a great shoulder knocked the tackler flying but within seconds Notts had the ball again , great tackles from Callum jack and Sam saw us win possession back at the half way .. But after a knock on it was half time

Nice kick and good chase by Sam , unfortunately they were so very quick in the counter but a good tackle by Jude and Charlie showing his strength by driving over the ball ... Callum with a good run , but his support was late and they got the ball and ran over half the pitch for the first try of the second half

Again we play well immediately after the restart but just as we seem to take some advantage we lose it and they score ... This time in the bottom corner

Fast play by both teams but again our backs not being in position saw us lose out again

Yet another good start , really promising , great drive by Morgan but no one in support , we lose the ball , great tackle by Joe now playing fullback and a nice little run too .....recycled ball that's better lads , taking it to them , passing alone the line nice run by Ronnie , but the ball came loose in the tackle and they counter and score

I'm really impressed with the never give up attitude ... Some good play again , Joe putting in a few tackles and again south showing some determination .. Runs by Cameron Joe George and Charlie , find us in their half of the pitch , nice kick and chase by Callum saw us in their 22 for the first time in the whole game .. But again they turn it over and launch a kick which caught the wind and bounced over in our half .. Joe picked up the ball and ran , passed to jack , then George ... Fighting to the death .. Callum with a run up into their half and a kick from an offside position rewarded us with a penalty , tap and run by Morgan ... But we lost the ball and they ran down to the bottom corner and scored

Anyone reading this who didn't see the match would be horrified , but in reality we did attack very well , support being the weak link in the attacks ... The strength in the attacks came from the scrums , but the scrum was hampered by loose feet kicking the ball back to Notts whilst in the scrum ...
Tackling and positioning in my opinion was the reason the score was as high as it was , although we didn't really have an answer to their pace and passing abilities ... We still should've been in contention more than we were ...

Was a tough game to watch ... But ultimately I take my hat off you all for not giving up !! Apologies if I missed anything ..
