South Leicester RFC are looking to recruit new coaches and a 1st Team Manager to assist for the 2017-18 season.

South 1st play in National 2 North and finished in 7th position this season.

As Team Manager, it’s up to you to keep the team in the loop on club requirements,

Team Managers
The Manager is the Coaches assistant in all things related to team administration. He/she supports the Coach in achieving all the team goals and the clubs goals, along with promoting a good Club attitude.

The Manager is responsible for: –

1. organising all team support structures
2. ensuring that all Club fees and any other monies due to the Club are paid promptly, collecting membership forms and handing them to the designated Club contact
3. ensuring players are present and ready on match days
4. ensuring the availability of match-day balls, jerseys, training balls, water bottles and any warm-up equipment necessary is present on game days and training nights(balls, cones, water bottles, tackle pads, shirts etc) scoreboard and flags
5. Ensure Jerseys and other equipment are ready on Thursday night for away matches
6. Organising rosters of the players for volunteer duties for home games particularly changing room and tidy up roster
7. ensuring that players are aware of their responsibilities and entitlements including up-coming club functions, the end of season Annual Dinner etc
8. ensuring that the Captain operates in the RFU-appropriate manner including pre-game introduction to the rival captain and the referee and post-game congratulations to the captain, thanks to the referee and an invitation to the opposing team to stay for a drink at home games
9. submitting completed and signed match team sheets to the RFU GMS system, assisting the Registrar in matters relating to registration
10. organised appropriately treatment eg transport assistance, ambulance for injured players , assisting the coach in making contact with all injured players in the following week
11. returning the jerseys after the game for the strong room for laundry pickup and kit to storage areas after the game
12. active participation in the weekly meetings, Compiling the weekly team sheet and presenting to the club committee and program design
13. Ensure all players are aware of their annual club subscriptions, kit and sponsorship commitments,
14. Keep records of all player kit handed out over the season
15. Ensure the team turns out properly dressed for matches and after match activities, wearing the correct club clothing

A team player, (working within the senior section) well-organised, enthusiastic and motivating, a good listener who’s easy to approach, a good timekeeper, available for Saturday match days and 1 hour on Thursday nights (ideally)

In essence, the role is a support one and will help to improve the professional back up to our 1st team players and coaches which we need to develop. This is an opportunity for an individual to come on board and work within the senior section and take the club forward within the wider community.

The Obligations of the coaching staff are as follows

1. Coaches must respect the fundamental right that all players who pay their fees are entitled to a game.
2. A player selected to sit on the bench must give his consent to do so and a refusal and an election to play a full game in the 2xv will not be held against him.
3. Coaches must be aware of and have an understanding of the RFU mission statement and reflect these values in the way they conduct themselves and coach their team.
4. Coaches must undertake to watch players from both 1st & 2nd teams and make it known to players that they are taking an interest
5. All players are entitled to regular feedback and in particular when they have been dropped to the 2nd xv.
6. Coaches are encourage to regularly look at 2nd team players and develop their own talent pool
7. Coaches are encouraged to study towards level 2 or 3 coaching qualification

The Coach is responsible for: –

• structured and planned training sessions
• preparation of the players
• structure of the team game plan
• communicating this game plan to the players and the executive board
• developing each players potential
• encouraging excellence in execution
• providing positive feedback and post-match analysis to the players
• recruitment and retention of senior players
• Contributing to and being aware of, the importance of team morale.

The Coach has a role in building the whole person by ensuring that playing our game is an enjoyable experience in the player’s life journey. He will take every opportunity to talk to and listen to the players and be sensitive to the needs of the individual and the team. The Coach must never lose sight of the importance of his leadership in achieving the team goals and club goals.
