The Club has learnt that Richard Green passed away on 27th Aug. 2026.

Richard had been a long-standing member of the club who was first connected with it when his two sons, David and Stephen joined the Mini Section in 1982.

He helped with the management of David’s team until he progressed to Colts. Although Richard had never played for the club, he was appointed a Vice President in the early 1990’s as a recognition to his dedication to the club and Leicestershire Rugby Union where he
was Hon. Secretary for 19 years.

When his time with the Union came to an end, and his LRU Presidential year concluded in 2015, he joined the South Leicester Executive Committee becoming also a Director and Company Secretary of South Leicester RFC Ltd, a company he had helped the Committee to form in 2009.

Richard leaves a wife and his two sons and will be missed by the older members of
the Rugby Community at the club and across Leicestershire.

Funeral to be held at 1pm on Friday 25th September 2026 at
South Leicestershire Crematorium, Countesthorpe, Leicester LE8 5QP

Everyone is welcome to join the family afterwards at South Leicester RFC, Welford Road, Wigston, LE18 3TE

No flowers, however donations to Loros and Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis would be greatly appreciated
