This week South travelled to Otley, who were just 2 position below south in the league and had won 10 of their games on their own turf this season, it was not going to be easy.
Otley playing down the slope and with the wind, started well, fullback Hodson out stripping the south defence to put the home side left winger, Beaumont in at the corner after just 6 min, 5-0
Then south got into their stride and produced possible the best first half this season, trys coming through Cooke, Ward & Martin, all converted by Aley. A consolation try from Otley made it 12-21 at HT
Playing with the slope and breeze in the second half, south quickly gained control, with just 4 min played, kicking a penalty through Aley, 12-24 but a lapse in concentration, 16 min played allowed Otley to come back with a converted try of their own. 19-24, game on…
20 min in came the try that secured a bonus point and put the game out of Otleys reach, good hands lead to Heath crossing the line for try number 4, converted by Aley. 19-31. Aley completed the scoring on 36min with a penalty 19-34 FT
Defiantly worth travelling up to Yorkshire to see South take the win and in doing so secure their place in National 2 for next season, well done to all.
