After a morning of light rain, the clouds cleared just in time for the 3pm Kick off, South ran out and played up the slope in the first half.
Hinckley taking an early lead after 6 minutes, Callum Dacey bursting through some weak south tackling to score.
South replied with a penalty from Ricky Aley after 9 minutes, south then suffered two yellow cards, for a pull back and a high tackle, which put the South defense to the test, the lads worked hard, keeping Hinckley out with 14 and then 13 players for 15 minutes. There was no further score until the 33 minute when Lord dropped a kick into the in goal area for Mitch Lamb to touch down. Half time score 10-3
The second half was all South - Aley kicked a second penalty after 48 minutes, and apart from a missed effort from Glover soon after, Hinckley spent most of the half on the defensive. South turned down a number of kickable penalties and unfortunately handling errors cost at least 2 trys, which on another day would have been taken. The last 10 minutes saw south have 3 rolling maul opportunities from the 5 metre line, again without success. The final play was a cross field kick from Aley which was grounded by South but the ball had been adjudged a knock on in the buildup, Final score 10-6
I am sure south will be up for the return match later in the season, march 11th 3pm ko in front of the home faithful
