South make it 10 points in two games

Another entertaining match at Welford Rd, Wigston not Leicester, in which 10 tries were scored as both teams kept the spectators enthralled with end to end rugb, a Rickie Aley conversion being the difference between two well matched sides

South reached the break with a 21-7 lead and looking good for a for a decisive win. Otley had other ideas though adding 4 second half tries but South clawed the game back and were deserved bonus point winners

Otley opened the encounter with multi phase play as South were pegged back in the early stages but it was South who opened the scoring following, the home teams first meaningful foray into the opposition half which gave Aley a chance to feed Harry Priestner to scoot over, Aley converting 7-0

A wayward pass in Souths 22 found its way to Otleys Petchley who raced through to score a converted try 7-7

Within three minutes the green and whites hit back. South won a penalty at the scrum, Aley found touch in the visitors 22,Josh McLaurin leapt high and Aaron Martin got on the end of the drive and touched down, Aley converting. 14-7.

South quickly added another try ,Aley was again involved finding Calum Gunn after some smart offloads, Aley adding the extras 21-7.

Otley spurned several kicks at goal and went for the line outs but Souths defence held firm and went in at HT with a 21-7 lead

After the break Otley again came out with intent and after a multi phase period Johnson crossed for a converted try 21-14.Johnson soon collected his second converted try and now it was all to play for at 21-21. The visitors now had the bit between their teeth and took the lead with an unconverted try from Roberts 21-26. The missed conversion proved to be costly.

Souths replacement Martin Wolfenden came on and made an immediate impact with driving runs giving Ryan Hough the opportunity to score an unconverted try to bring the scores level 26-26.

Otley were still going through the phases and were rewarded when their big prop Tiploma crashed over to give the Yorkshire side a 26-31 lead.

Another South replacement Adam Shaw took a quick tap penalty which took Otley unawares and Tom Cheney went over, Aley added the crucial conversion 33-31 and despite a couple of late scares, South finished with a hard fought win, showing that the game is now very much about the squad.
