Stourbridge enjoyed the 1st half advantage of a stiff south westerly breeze and were reliant on the boot of debutant outside-half Luke White for a 12 point halftime lead that appeared par at best. A second half interception try by Gareth Clarke and lapses in discipline, giving Rickie Aley the opportunity to put points on the board, allowed South to take a 13-12 single-point lead by the hour mark and the odds looked in South's favour, more so as Stourbridge lost a man to the sin bin for tackling the man in the air. But with 14 men and running hard and straight at South's defence, Stourbridge finally worked replacement prop Tom Harrison over from short-range, converted to make the score 19-13. With time running out South had opportunities of their own and threw the kitchen sink into attack but had to settle for just a bonus point as Stourbridge's resolute defence held them out.
