South Leicester 20 Sandal 25
The winless run goes on but the losing bonus point will be welcome in a game that South didn't really threaten until after the half time break.
In the cross field windy conditions Sandal coped better with the weather and exploited it well during a first half when they were on top of the exchanges.
Both teams took time to settle and gradually Sandal began to put their game together scoring a try after 15 minutes following some missed tackles.
With Stone Priestly-Nangle, Will Ward and the rest of the team redeeming themselves by putting in a lot of tackles they prevented Sandal from adding a further tries but they did concede a penalty
South's forwards eventually began to influence the match and following a line out in the visitors 22, a driving maul resulted in Chris Bale touching down. The wind got the better of the conversion attempt and after 24 minutes there was only 3 points in it.
.But Sandal are not team to relax against and they hit back quickly with a try leaving an half time deficit at 5-13
Two more Sandal tries in the second half left South with a lot to do. A gear change was called for and South upped the tempo.South got within 10 points following a quick penalty from Chris Gibbs which gave the opportunity for Wes Cope to dive over for an unconverted try
The backs through Blaine Howe, Will Cave and Will Gates began to force Sandal to defend as the away team protected their lead. A response came with a late Rickie Aley penalty followed by an excellent scrum on Sandal's line which produced a penalty try giving them a bonus point but before they could add further points to the scoreboard South ran out of time and it proved too little too late
