Leics still lead the match series 2-1 versus Cumbria, but go down in the latest game.

Despite South's Mark Lord (captain), Rhod McNaughton, Mark Bayley, Joe Glover, Simon Johnson and Luke Coltman all being involved Leics went down to Cumbria 38-17 at Penrith in the "winner takes all" County Championship Shield pool decider.
Collectively the County side were flat and didn't play to their potential after a long journey to the north west. They had chances to score, especially in the second half, but the normal accuracy and speed of thought were missing.
Leics were down 23-7 at half time having scored through Glover and converted by Lord. A mini revival took place as Hinckley's Ryan Oakes scored a try with Lord adding both the conversion and a penalty to narrow the gap.
However, the hosts defence and some sloppy Leics play in try scoring positions enabled Cumbria to take the game 38 points to 17 points.
They now have a home semi final versus Warwickshire at Aspatria in order to progress to the Twickenham final to play either the holders Surrey or Sussex
